St. John's Episcopal Church invites you to a free showing of the film, "The 13th," on April 3, at 6:00pm in the Jackson County Public Library Community Room, 310 Keener St., Sylva. This Oscar-nominated and Emmy-award winning documentary by Ava DuVernay exams the lasting impact of the 13th Amendment on racial inequality that drives the high rate of incarceration in US prisons. Refreshments and discussion will follow with special guest, Dr. Andrew Krinks, author of White Property, Black Trespass.
